Giligan’s Island Restaurant

Last Thursday, May 31, 2012, the SEO team had their very first mini team building at Giligan’s Island Restaurant in Glorietta 5. It was an amusing night from the very end of our shift to the wee hours of the morning, mostly because getting there was an adventure in itself.

After our shift, Mark had suggested that we (Jake, Kim, Mel, Clarence and Wendy) go on ahead since they were hungry and had already begun eating the food the JJ had brought for them. After a considerable amount of debating outside the building, we decided to walk…and what a walk it was! Haha, turns out that there was some confusion if it was Greenbelt or Galleria? Whatever. So we played follow the leader with Jake all the way to Giligans. It was fun getting through the crowd, also got to talk with Wendy and Kim on the way there about stuff.

There I am! blurred and in motion hahaha 🙂 Kim must be laughing at me again XD Jake took this picture, another spur of the moment one of his.

So after a long walk to Giligans, we found out that Mark, Pearl and Cris were already there. Since I had already called to reserve a table for 9, we did not have to wait long to be seated. The team building dinner was care of Kim, Mark and Jake as they all pitched in to pay the bill (sweetness!) Had my first beer of the year too, hahaha!

Here is just basically 1/3 of the food served. I swear I had never seen so much food! Nakakalula aha :)) Fish and Chips platter, Kare Kare, Chicken fingers(?), Nilagang Baka, Crispy Pata, Chicken Inasal, Sisig, Menudo(?) and a serving each of a rice all you can meal. I had the Spicy Squid, absolutely delish! I was full already by that meal alone O_O

I am hearing some comments from Wendy about the iced tea tasting like nothing more than colored water, though I did not have the same experience with mine to I can’t judge :p

The only negative comment about the whole experience was the fact that we still had to wait outside even if we had reserved seats earlier by phone, when we were finally seated, we had no cutlery or dishes since they were still washing them.

All in all it was a lovely evening! Here is a picture of me with Pearl and Cris taken by Mark. They are so pretty!

Another pic! This time Wendy took it ^_^ I wish we had pictures with her though 😦

Oh hey! It’s me! A giddy photo taken by Kim 🙂 I am so haggard! XD

After a meal and a couple of drinks later, we were able to get down to the good stuff. We began talking about ourselves and gave each other time for introductions. I learned so much about the team, it was a lovely evening getting to know all about them which will greatly improve our work as a team on a professional basis as we are getting to understand each others strength and weaknesses, even more so, realize why a person is the way he or she is.

It was a shame that Wendy got in trouble for being late. To lessen the tension, Mark, Kim and myself decided to escort her all the way home. When we got there, her dad was waiting out on the road. Luckily enough after nagmano ako sa kanya, the tension lessened and Mark was able to apologize and explain. It was a good thing that her father acknowledged out explanation after that.

Another good thing was that I had Kim and Mark escort me home afterwards. Aren’t they awesome?

Another great Makati mornight 🙂
